New Toy..........and a day on the mainland

Ok so the new-ness is boud to wear off or so I hope for your sakes!!!
So my husand and I have been saving for the better part of 3 years to buy a canon digital rebel to go with our canon rebel. We were all set to go about 6 months ago when all of a sudden the rebel xti came on to the radar screen......so we continued saving and bought it online at quite a savings.....only when it came yesterday it didn't come with the cf card so we could admire it's exterior and oh and ah but that folks was all we

could co with it!!
Today we went to the mainland and guess what
we bought? Hmm for an additional $19.98 we are now functional!

This camera is 10.1 mp and I ave to say our old kodak was 4.0.....I plan to get a few developed on paper and then I will tell you what I truley think but my god what a difference........
I have always LOVED photography since I was a teenager and learned how to develope B&W in highschool......god how I love the smell and the power of all the steps being done successfully and all the creative aspects of it all.....I dreamt of having a dark room in my home......now I have it!
These arejust some of the first shots of the kids in the back of the truck while we were waiting for daddy to finish picking up supplies for grammies remodel project!

I am tellin you this kid is happy go lucky 99% of the time!!!

We are parked on the ferry and waiting to get under way.

This is what a day of grocery shopping, Wal-mart, Home Depot as well as other errands do to Big B.

This is our ferry passing another ferry....blow by blow........

And all the while this is where my knitting sat......it kinda tooka back burner....although there is progress!!! I now have 13 butterflies across each section...

This is the breakwater......it means you are 10 minutes from the mainland or 50 minutes from home.......

This is the Owl's Head light house.

This is me checking out what kind of detail this camera picks up.....ooooh baby.....luv it!!!!!

Love it, Love it!!!!!

Oh yeah Love Him toooooo.......look at that face!!!!

Not sure what this light hose is called......but it is on Vnal Haven. (BTW...for those of you who don't know...we are still on the ferry....)

This kid is so dang cute.....and growing leaps and bounds these days.....he went the longest time, and we didn't think he was ever going to talk.......he and I carried on the best and cutest conversation in Wally World today while dress shopping for Big sis....it was just h and I and it went like this.......Mom what do you think about this one? Big B Nah mom.......Mom this one is pretty huh? Big B Yeah mom, for me too? Mom No silly boy you don't wear dresses do you? Big B No Mommy........Little B......Mom No silly Little B doesn't wear dresses does he? Big B- No Mommy but daddy does!!! By this time mommy
is dang near peeing herself to keep from
busting a gut!!!!!!!!!!! When I hear snickers and giggles coming from the other side of the rack so I walk around to find a mom and daughter who had taken in this admittedly funny conversation.... Too funny!!!!

My Secret Pal is better than yours.............

So yesterday in the mail I got this great big priority mail box! The sender apparently did not want anything to fall out nor di she want anyone to get into it!!!!! :) After completely obliterating the box I found this cute card full of spring wishes, and a basket (perfect size for a pair of socks in process!!) full of goodies. My secret pal forgot no one!!!! Rubber Duckies for the kids, the green one little B staked a claim to by drooling big slobbery goo all over the beak, Big B got Mr. Blue (or Bwoo as he says) And Miss S. got lello.
Flash the cat got treats, as did the dogs Panda and Angel. There were 3 easter eggs filled with 3 varieties of yummy-ness, Peeps, Note Pads (always need those!!!, an M&M Carrot and last but not at all least, and all mine mine mine, Socks Two!!! What a cute book!! I love it!!

Thank you SP10 you rock, much harder than any other!!!!

Me on the other hand 5 gotta get off my tushy and get my SP package out........more on that at
end of this post!

OK so got a pick of our daily version of the Titanic.......this is our ferry boat.......runs round trip to the mainland 3 times a day.....holds 17 modestly sized vehicles.........but with all the SUV's we have out here that count goes down a bit. The trip is an hour.

Just various places on the island that I didn't put in last time.....Enjoy!

Meanwhile HELP ME PLEASE......I am having a slightly difficult time figuring out what to get my SP10........maybe it is because my SP sets the bar so high with her packages as they are awesome, in every way......presentation, content and timing! My SP does not really have a sweet tooth.......and does not mention coffee either, although she does like naturally decaf tea.....

I am headed over on Saturday....on the Titanic...and am hoping some things will jump off the shelves at me!!! In the mean time any suggestions would be lovely!!!!!!!!

Take a Ride with me and see some angels!!

So this is a picture of the ferry dock slip....with out the ferry......sorry people, work with me on this....I had 2 scrreaming kids in the back seat and a whiny 6 year old!! The land you see on the righ side of the photo, is the "other" island........ 3 times a day a 17 car ferry pulls in unlaods and then loads back up......it takes an hour to get to the "real world"

This is our community school.......k-12. I think there is a total of 64 kids this year. My daughter has a 1sy grade class of 4 girls which is funny as I graduated from a class of 4 girls :) The island is currently in the process of fundraising for a new school, as this one is fairly run down.....but does the island need a $6,000,000.00 school......hmmm now there is soomething to chew on............not going there!

Some of the scenic views going around in circles!

Are you still with me or did the heat and the bumping put you to sleep? We just got new roads this past summer........and some of them are already falling to pieces!

But nonetheless, this is a truley beautiful place to live! And while it still has the worries most communities has, it is much smaller population (350 give or take) We know each and every face we pass, we tend to leave our doors unlocked and some of us still leave keys in our cars.....although that could get you in trouble!!! Everyone waves as they pass, although you may get grumbled at as well. This place is a great big dysfunctional family.

No better place to raise your family, as long as you can continue to afford it.

This is the site of a new summer home and it definitely a gorgeous spot......this was taken standing on the porch.......we were actually trying to get a shot of a cock pheasant (bet that will get me some google hits, what do you think???) but missed him and then came upon the finished house.....just a short while ago it was a cellar hole.

More scenery.

This is what my father refers to as a spark plug light house and from what I understand it is one of the last working ones left.

A better closer picture of the spark plug.

Some critters. Gotta love a gorgeous horse right?

This little guy needds a haircut, and was ultimately friendly.

In fact he wanted to sniff the camera....as my hubby was snapping a picture.......:)

And here are my 3 angels fronts

and this is a shot of their backs.

Well I am truley exhausted so goodnight for tonight!!!

A Day in the Real World

So today was swimming lessons in the afternoon for the dear daughter! She does so well! Today was her first try at diving off the podium into the (I think) 9 foot end. She was braver than I would have been at her age! Of course I forgot the camera…>DOH!

In the morning Big B had school so mom had a morning with just little B who takes a nap for 2 hours in the AM…..what did I do with myself????? Well I did complete my 2 angels!!! No pics as I am on the new computer and I do not want to install the old camera on it when HOPEFULLY sometime iin the next few weeks I will have a new digi!!!! HOPEFULLY it has been back ordered for 8 weeks now!!

Hopefully everyone got to enjoy the sun today!!! It got clear up to almost 60 today!!!! It was incredible!!

Well I hate pictureless posts so here is my lame attempt at soothing myself!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah and as I said in the previous post I have to have 18 butterflies in each last row of the scarf……..I have 11 now WOOHOO 7 more togo and then there is a flower garden border and picot trim!!!! I am so excited to see it completed!!!!!

Well that will be all for today…I am exhausted. I promise pictures of the angels before the weekend is done!

PArts and Pieces, and a butterfly shawl grows

OK so amongst the washed out'ed ness of this photos are the bits and pieces of another 3 inch angel in the making......all starched and ready for putting together......can;t see it? Well I will post when I get it put together, hopefully by weekends close!

This here is the making of a tree topper angel. She will be somewhere around 9 inches tall! well actually the arms aren't here........I still have to stuff them, but the sleeves are there :) !!

The shawl is coming along.....when I put it down this evening to come to bed I have 8 more pattern repeats to have the correct 18 butterflies in each section. I am liking this, the bigger it gets and am sure after it is blocked and the lace opens up it will just get prettier.

This is just a bad close up of the pattern!!! I will defenitely do more lace......I am finging it frustratingly enjoyable!

Little B is into everything. He turned 9 months old today. He climbs up and "cruises" around......scarey!!!!!!!

I am not sure if he was trying to knock dad out or just do a bit of arm pit sniffing? As you can see in the previous pic, he is a wee bit snoggy and his face is a bit chapped but he see,s to be holding his own.

Oh yeah and the baby seal crawl has been replaced...........boy can he move now!!!

The "boys" looking at BIG TRUCKS!!!!!

Little B going up and over Daddy's lap!!!

And for those who have asked. Mom made it out of surgery and is resting (probably not comfortably....but resting still) at a hotel, and will be home tomorrow!

Ok so my SP10 told me where to get the needles, not where to get the beads?
